The GPO Witness History Visitor Centre is located in the historical GPO (General Post Office) building on O’Connell Street, Dublin. The GPO building was the communications hub of Ireland and headquarters of the men and women who took part in the 1916 Easter Rising. The building has been witness to over two centuries of history.
GPO Witness History is one of Dublin’s newest venues and it provides a unique event space. Renowned for both its historical and architectural significance, the venue offers the ultimate backdrop for a variety of events, right at the very heart of Dublin.
The venue contains three main spaces available for events. The Witness Gallery is a high ceiling room with large Georgian windows facing the bustle of O’Connell Street; it is an ideal space for an intimate reception, meeting, or a lecture for a maximum of 50 guests.
The Commemoration Gallery overlooking the courtyard is an ideal space for larger events. It is bright and airy with a modern feel in a historical surrounding; this space can cater for a sit down dinner for up to 50 guests and a reception for a maximum of 150 guests.
The Courtyard is an oasis of calm within the hustle and bustle of Dublin city centre. It gives the visitor the unique opportunity of looking at the inside of a very well-known façade of the city. This space can be used in different ways, as pre-dinner drinks space, reception, or post dinner entertainment for a maximum of 120 guests.
As an added bonus, all guests get to enjoy the award winning exhibition visit where they can experience all about one of the most fascinating areas of Irish History.
